AMC 8 and AMC 10-12 Preparations:
MathCON Summer Camp provides an opportunity for students to explore high school, undergraduate, and even graduate-level math topics while developing problem-solving skills that are applicable to any field of study. The camp also aims to prepare students for the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), which is the first in a series of competitions that determine the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The selection process for the IMO takes place over roughly four stages, with the final stage being the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOP), where six members are selected to form the IMO team.
There are three levels in the AMC competition:
- AMC 8 for students under the age of 14.5 and in grades 8 and below,
- AMC 10 for students under the age of 17.5 and in grades 10 and below, and
- AMC 12 is for students under the age of 19.5 and in grades 12 and below.
Students who perform well in the AMC 10 or AMC 12 competitions may be invited to participate in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), and those who excel in the AIME may be invited to the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) or the United States of America Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAJMO). Exceptional performers on the USAMO, typically around 30 students, are invited to attend the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP or MOP), and the top six scorers on the USAMO are selected from the top twelve scorers in the Team Selection Test (TST) to form the United States International Math Olympiad Team.
How to Apply:
Our organizing committee is on the lookout for a group of middle and high school students ready to embark on this extraordinary journey. Selection criteria will encompass factors such as your past participation in MathCON, engagement in other math competitions, performance history in MathCON, and your demonstrated passion for mathematics. Applications for Summer Camp 2025 will be open later this year. We look forward to welcoming you to this enriching experience!
Get ready for a week of advanced math exploration, problem-solving, and exciting challenges!
