2024 National MathCON Finals

The National MathCON Finals is an amazing event where only the nation’s brightest mathletes qualify to compete against each other.  This year, the Finals will be held on May 11 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.

Only the top percentile of students who competed in the online MathCON competition are invited to the National MathCON Finals. Registration for the MathCON Finals is open, but there are limited seats available for each grade level. 

Finalist registration opens March 14, 2024 at 11 AM CT and closes March 29, 2024 at 11:59 PM CT. There will be no alternate finalist this year. 

Coordinators for the first round MathCON Online competition should log in to their accounts for information about your students’ scores and registration status.

MathCON 2024 begins promptly at 9 AM and ends with a celebration by 4 PM on Saturday, May 11. Admission for all guests is free.

 MathCON Final eBook Practice Tests

  • 10 Practice Tests with solutions in each Final eBook for grades 4–12.
  • Final eBook Practice Tests open on Tuesday, March 14, 2024.
  • Final eBook will be accessible in the student’s portal after Final registration is completed.
  • Maximum score for a Final eBook Practice Test is 300 points.
  • There is no time limit for the Final eBook Practice Tests.
  • Students do not lose any points for wrong or unanswered answers.
  • Students may use a calculator on the test.
  • Students are recommended to take Final eBook Practice Tests before the Final Test.
  • Answers with solutions are provided.
  • Final eBook Practice Tests are open till May 31, 2024.
 

 MathCON Final Test

  • Students will be given 100 minutes to complete 32 problems
  • The first 28 questions are multiple choice and the last four are constructed response questions
  • Paper and pencil only
  • There are no penalties for incorrect answers
  • Calculators are not permitted on the Final Test

At MathCON Finals, we plan on engaging in some fun math games. If you’d like to join us please have your student add their name to the appropriate Google Form. Please sign up for only one game, there are going to be over 600 students at this event and we want to give everyone a chance to play!

10:00 AM Rubik’s Cube Competition

Please fill out the Google Form - Get ready for the ultimate challenge at MathCON, where 100 students will go head-to-head, showcasing their skills and speed in our exhilarating Rubik's Cube competition. This game is for MathCON Finalists only.

1:15 PM Game 24 for Students

Please fill out the Google Form - In MathCON's Game 24, where strategy meets calculation, 16 selected students will take the stage, creatively employing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to reach the coveted number 24. This game is for MathCON Finalists only.

11:30 AM Game 24 for Guests (Parents/Coaches/Teachers)

Please fill out the Google Form - In MathCON's Game 24, where strategy meets calculation, 16 selected guests will take the stage, creatively employing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to reach the coveted number 24. This game is open to all guests.

Adult Volunteer Google Form - We express our sincere appreciation for our dedicated volunteer test proctors. Your commitment is truly valued. Please note that invitations to the Finals are by invitation only and are determined by several factors, including scores and time taken during the online test. The MathCON organizing committee uses a selective process, and only the top-scoring contestants will be invited to the finals. Duplicate student tests will be subject to disqualification. All invitation decisions are final and at the sole discretion of the MathCON organizing committee.

The final paper-based test has 32 questions, and the maximum weighted score is 300. If there is a tie based on the weighted score of the paper-based test:

  • The student with more correct answers out of 32 questions will be ranked higher.
  • If a tie still exists, the student with a better score on the online test will be the winner.
  • If the tied students have the same score on their online tests, the student who spent less time on the online test will be ranked higher.
